Query by Jimmy J: Will the New York Yankees win the Entire world Collection this yr?
Can they go all the way?
They’ve proven in there preceding 7 games vs. the Red Sox that they are not to be messed with as the Yanks destroyed the Red sox,
but can the New York Yankees go all the way this year? They have the hitting, but even though the Yankees do not have a sound 4 or 5 spot in the rotation, even a two spot! (Burnett), can the pitching be reliable enough to get the Yanks all the way?

As a Red Sox fan, I sadly have to admit they have a really good chance, but so do the Angels…
And how did they do in the first 8 games against Boston?
But I’m not sure. If the Yankees face the Red Sox in the ALCS, I honestly think they won’t have an easy time. John Lester and Josh Beckett are both young, dominant pitchers who have a good postseason resume. I’ll take Beckett over CC any day in the postseason, and if they both start game 1 of the ALCS, Boston can take home field advantage right back. CC Sabathia’s record in the postseason is awful, and AJ Burnett has never pitched a playoff game. Andy Petite is your only starting pitcher with a good postseason resume, but he’s 37 years old. A-rod has horrible postseason stats and Mark Texeira has only been in one postseason series and he didn’t get anything more than a single.
I think the Yankees inexperience in the postseason from 2 bats they really rely on and their lack of reliable starting playoff pitching is going to hurt them.
no. heres why.
1. Sabathia has a terrible postseason record (1-3, 7.92 ERA, 22 walks and 24 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched)
2. Burnett is terribly unreliable
3. Yankees always seem to choke against the Angels
4. Several teams have better one two punches at the top of the rotation.
5. That offense has consistently been shut down by dominant pitching
6. A Rod can’t hit for his life in the playoffs (especially over his last three appearances)
no.
NOPE- THEY GET SWEPT IN FIRST ROUND
Sadly, no. If they face Anaheim, they’ve go no chance because they just don’t match up with that team. If they face Detroit, they have to face Verlander and Jackson twice. They don’t have the pitchers to match up with those guys. Sabathia is horrible in the playoffs and Burnett way too inconsistent.
Except for CC Sabathia, their starting pitching can be unrealiable. I guess they’ll have to figure out what to do about that, but I admit they do have a good chance of winning the World Series this year.
Even if they make the WS they don’t have the pitching to win it all. Joba is terrible now, Sabathia can’t win in October and Burnett has been MIA for the mostpart in the 2nd half. The offense will continue to score but that doesn’t win titles.
They have a good chance but I think they’ll get beat in either the ALCS or the World Series.
heckk yea they r going all the way
They have to get there first.

They’ve got a good chance. They have the best record in baseball. This team has the best chemistry of any Yankees team since 2003. They know how to win. They know how to come back late. They have a lot of good things. They have some obstacles as well however.
Pitching isn’t bad on this team, but is inconsistent. Aside from CC Sabathia, we have no idea how the rest of this team is going to do. Even CC is a little questionable, as he has struggled in the postseason. Burnett has never thrown a playoff game, and is unpredictable. He can one hit the other team, and he can also give up 6 runs. Pettitte has been great, but we don’t know for sure how the shoulder will hold. Joba is just awful right now. And they really can’t count on Gaudin or Mitre. Starting pitching is probably the biggest problem for them. To me, if Burnett can get on a roll and pitch well down the stretch (he’s had 2 consecutive great games), then that changes our entire rotation, and makes it so much better. I hope Joba can get his crap together too, because that would help a lot as well.
Bullpen is fine, especially the back end. Best set up-closer combo in baseball, without question. Aceves has been great. Robertson has been great. Bruney’s been great in close games. And Marte has been good (except for that game against the O’s) since he came back. The bullpen is among the best in baseball.
Offense, without a question, is the best in baseball. It’s complete, without any holes whatsoever. They have the best 3-4 combo in baseball in Teixeira and Rodriguez, and two great table setters at the top. Their bottom is strong, and they have a good bench as well. The offense is definitely their strongest part.
Their biggest problem is starting pitching. But it’s not as big a problem as people are making it out to be. CC and Andy are fine, and if A.J. continues to pitch well down the stretch, then they have 3 reliable starters in the postseason, which is usually enough. Remember, EVERY playoff team is going to have some questions going into the playoffs. There’s a reason the Yankees have the best record in baseball. It’s because they are the best team in baseball, with less flaws than other teams. And the best team in baseball usually has a pretty good shot at the World Series.
